Description

This snowflake brooch starts with a single creamy cultured pearl, surrounded by glass seed beads woven by hand. A ring of tiny "charlottes", then vintage faceted "three-cuts" in a cream luster, then dark blue iris and bright turquoise, with an outer band of vintage French copper glass seed beads. I've always loved blue and brown, and this is one my favorites. The points are tipped with petite bronze pearls and tiny peacock blue Swarovski crystals.

When I first started this piece, I was thinking it should be bright white, but then I decided I liked the antique look of the warmer, creamy pearl and the vintage seed beads better! This is woven in the Native American Comanche, or brick stitch, with a sturdy nickel silver brooch clasp, and like most of my woven work has a subtle curvature. It measures about 2 1/4" in daimeter.

The other photos here show some of my inspiration for this piece, the colors in the cityscape around me. I took these pictures my first winter here in Maine: the rowhouses on Pleasant Street I used to walk by every day, and the historic Hay building on Free Street across from the Art Museum.

Bought this for my daughter and she absolutely loved them. I am tempted to get a pair for myself.

I bought this for my mothers birthday and I can't wait for her to open it. It is more beautiful in person.

Returns and exchange details
Refunds and exchanges may be negotiated at the seller's discretion. Most of my jewelry is quite sturdy, since I myself tend to be hard on things and I want them to last forever - I hate to do all that work for nothing! But the nature of the medium is that some things are fragile and many beads are still hand-drilled and handcrafted, so durability can vary. And even the finest pearls need to be restrung every couple of years!
For the most part, simply avoid spraying perfume or hairspray or applying cosmetics or lotions while wearing beaded jewelry, and remove before swimming, showering or sleeping. Woven pieces can be cleaned with a soft cloth or a soft unused toothbrush - never use chemical cleaners. Store metal jewelry protected from air and moisture, in a closed box or bag.
Return shipping will be paid by the buyer, and reimbursed for items that were damaged in transit after a claim is settled.
Refunds for jewelry lost or damaged in transit will be made when claims are settled by the shipper, USPS or FedEx, usually after 30 days. Be sure to keep the packaging for inspection if something is damaged or missing from the package, and contact me immediately if you have any problem at all.

For custom work, just click on "Contact" to send me a message about what you'd like to get started. I honor women of every size and shape, many pieces are adjustable and others can be customized! I do my best to cover the bases in each listing, and if you don't see what you need just contact me.
Apply perfumes, hair products or cosmetics before you put on jewelry, and remove before sleeping, showering or swimming. Store your jewelry away from air and moisture, in a box or bag, to prevent tarnish on Sterling Silver. You can use a polishing cloth on most pieces; details included with each order.
I can easily add a personalized gift tag and ribbon to the box or gift bag that your jewelry comes in, just tell me in the Message to Seller what you'd like. I'm also happy to ship gifts with a gift receipt directly to any single address at no extra charge, and will send you a photo of what they will receive.
Most of my pieces are one of a kind, suitable for a boutique or gallery setting. Please contact me for details!
Goldfilled jewelry is a lifetime product, made with a thick layer of karat gold bonded to a core of jeweler's brass. The gold layer is legally required to be 5%, or 1/20 of the total weight: 14k GF is stamped with a mark that says "14/20" (on commercially produced earwires, etc). I use 14k GF findings and wire from reputable sources such as Halstead Bead and Rio Grande.

By contrast, gold-plated products have an applied gold surface layer that is just 1/100th (0.05%) of goldfilled, and like vermeil, which has a layer of higher karat gold over silver, usually tarnishes easily and wears away quickly.

14k GF can tarnish under extreme conditions; I live by the sea so to be safe I store it away from the salt air, in a box or bag.
