Antique Ham Lamb Leg Bone Gigot D'Agneau Holder Carving Aid - Horn Handle Silver Plated

There are some kitchen utensils that once you finally have one you think 'How did I ever live without this?' and this is one of them. The days of seriously scalded fingers or soggy paper towels whilst trying to carve a leg of lamb or gammon are over. This thing, even though it was made a long time ago, works brilliantly. Just open it up, slip it over the leg bone, tighten and 'hey presto!'. It clamps the leg really securely and makes it a breeze to carve.

Ok, so it works. It is also very lovely as a piece of table decoration. Silver plated and horn handled it was made in France some time around the turn of the last century.

Also included in the sale is a safety guarded carving fork, aslo horn handled and also silver plated although they are not a matching set. The fork has wide splines to ensure a good grip and there is no danger of cutting yourself should the carving knife slip as the guard is substantial. The handle on the fork is inlaid with silver and it looks superb.

Both items are, of course, used and show a few signs of wear but otherwise in very good antique condition and they still work perfectly.

Individually antique carving items of this quality sell for significant sums but I bought them together so I think they should stay together.
