Just beautiful.

Gorgeous, lovely, ethereal, once again, words cannot describe the delicate beauty of this blouse.

Constructed of cotton batiste and embroidered batiste ribbon, covered in the tiniest pintucks that we have ever seen, perhaps 1/32 of an inch, the tucks are too small for us to measure them. It is cut so that is very loose in the front and fitted at the back, probably when it is properly tucked into a skirt it will have that typical "poofy" front, pigeon breasted cut that was in style in the early years of the 1900s. Dolman sleeves with tucks at the elbow for ease of movement. The sleeves end with delicate nettting and lace.

The front features a beautiful piece of embroidery with large roses, smaller flowers and leaves. Tiny mother of pearl buttons up the back, hand stitched buttonholes. The whole blouse is made up of alternating strips of fabric and batiste ribbon, beautifully stitched and constructed, there is really not much fabric in this garment, once again it seems to be made of lace and air. French seams on the inside so it is lovely inside as well.

At the back there are two twill tape stays to keep the shape trim and fitted at the back without bunching and gathering. The collar has snaps, white wire supports and one celluloid stay, the other one is missing. The neck on this blouse is very small, see measurements below.

This blouse is pretty close to perfect, no holes in the fabric or the lace, one tiny rust mark on the lower right back, one small tear in the lace on the left sleeve. There may be something that we have missed but right now we can find nothing else to report. Please remember that this is an antique garment and treat it carefully. This is an antique garment, it is not perfect but it is lovely.

Due to it's size and age it may be best to consider this a garment for display only

Commercial label inside, Geisha Waist.

SMALL, the measurements are as follows:
Bust across the front measured flat: 24 inches
Across the back at the bust line: about 15 inches
Waist measured flat across the front: over 20 inches
Waist measured flat at the back: 12 inches
Length at the front: 22 inches
Length at the back:
18.5 inches from the bottom edge of the stand up collar to the bottom of the hem
Collar: barely 12 inches all the way around inside the collar
Sleeve length: about 22-23, it is hard to measure because there is no clear shoulder seam however the sleeves are extremely close fitted and I can barely get my quite small hand down the sleeve and out of the wrist opening.
Wrist: about 7 inches
