Are you willing to take a chance on beauty?

This is a fully restored 1934 Singer Bentwood case designed to house a Singer 99 (3/4 size) sewing machine. When I first saw this case, it was very clear that its previous owners had completely neglected and tossed aside this beauty--its finish was utterly compromised and it has a crack in its veneer around one side of the handle.

I almost wrote it off and tossed it aside myself and brought it to the "swap shack" at our local dump ("transfer station") to wait for someone else to resurrect, but I believe(d) that it would be quite a shame to leave this piece merely because it had a crack in its veneer skin. It was completely restorable and the one flaw I could not repair, the veneer, did not detract from its function or its potential beauty!

So, what you see now is a sparkling, fully restored, and refinished Benthwood case sporting a new replacement "Singer" decal, re-painted black metal pieces (inside), and a re-wired lead from the knee operated switch. I believe the wood is walnut.

To operate, you remove the knee switch from inside the top of the case, insert it in the hole on the right side and set the machine at the edge of a table. It comes with a chrome Singer key (although not original to the piece).

Dimensions: 14 1/2 inches (H) X 17 1/4 inches (L) x 8 inches (W). The distance between the center of the hinges is 9 1/4 inches.

Your new case will be wrapped in a thick blanket of bubble wrap, bagged, and cushioned on all sides. The box will be reinforced with styrofoam insulation on all sides.
