I have re-purposed these pretty pastel vintage lotus bowls as DIY microgreens planter kits. Just add water and sunshine, and within a week or so, you'll be harvesting your own super-fresh and nutritious microgreens.

I have two bowls in pale PINK, and three bowls in WHITE. This listing is for one bowl kit, but you may certainly choose as many as you like, and save on combined shipping too!

I have created this planter kit containing everything you need to grow your own microgreens:

1. These mid-century "lotus bowls" are shaped like little flowers, with lightly ribbed petals and a small circular foot. My guess is that they were made sometime in the early 1950s.

Each bowl measures 4-1/2 inches wide and just under 2-1/2 inches tall. They are the perfect size for a windowsill garden. All are in pristine condition, with no chips, scratches or cracks.

I scour antique markets for vintage kitchen pieces like this one to make my Mini Garden microgreen kits. I only have these 5 bowls left in the colors I've described, so when these are gone, they're gone!

2. Organic seeds produced especially for growing as microgreens, enough to grow 2 crops.

For each kit you purchase you may choose any one of the organic microgreens seeds I carry:

Chia (Salvia hispanica)
China Rose Radish
DiCiccio Broccoli
Golden Flax
Kitty Cat Grasses
Oriental Mustard
Rapini-Broccoli Rabe
Red Clover
Red Garnet Amaranth

Let me know your seed choice in Notes to Seller; if you don't specify, I'm happy to choose for you.

3. Decorative gravel for drainage.

Since I do not drill holes in the bowl, a layer of gravel allows excess water to drain away from the seedling roots. Wash the gravel between crops, and you can continue to re-use it as many times as you like.

4. Organic seedling starter soil mix that I custom-blend especially for microgreens.

I include enough seedling starter soil to successfully raise 2 crops in your Mini Garden. You may continue to use the soil for additional crops if you add soil supplements; otherwise, I recommend you recycle it in compost, or top-dressing other potted plants, then start your 3rd garden with fresh soil mix.

5. Complete instructions for growing your own Mini Garden of microgreens.

Following my easy, step-by-step directions, you can create your own microgreens garden in less than 15 minutes. Then just add water and sunshine, and within 7 to 10 days you'll be harvesting your own super-fresh, super-nutritious microgreens!

You can grow your Mini Garden indoors in a sunny windowsill, or, weather permitting, outdoors in a sheltered spot.

About Microgreens

Microgreens are vegetable and grain seedlings harvested beyond the sprout stage, but before the baby greens stage of growth. Microgreens are more nutritious than sprouts, and even tastier than baby greens!

Anyone can grow microgreens, anywhere there's a little sunshine, any time of year. Requiring only a week or so from the time you plant to the time you harvest, microgreens provide instant gratification for busy people, and can be a fascinating project for children.

Each seedling you cut will taste amazingly like its grown-up counterpart: radish microgreens are spicy like a radish, amaranth microgreens taste like an earthy grain, and broccoli microgreens taste like, well, broccoli!

Microgreens can be used in any recipe that calls for sprouts: they're super in salads and sandwiches, for starters. Toss a handful into smoothies ... blend some into salad dressing!
