A 9 x 12 inch acrylic painting on flat canvas board from 2008. One of my favorite Victorian era science fiction stories is "The Brick Moon," and while this isn't a depiction of any scene from the story itself, this is inspired by fiction of that era. A silver-haired wise woman in a brass-bronze toned gown with a blue bodice gazes through an antique telescope in her observatory.

Outside the window, the first manmade satellite -- made of brick! -- hovers nearby in the sky and another green moon or planet can be seen in the distance. An electric-charged cloud fizzes lightning while an airship floats by. A pocketwatch hands from her belt, and the shadows of giant wheels paint the floor of the room.
