Although the type of iris usually seen in Japan today is of the hanashobu variety (with larger lower petals and shorter upper standards than the ones pictured here) the ayame iris were probably the type that were common in ancient Japan. It was once believed that iris gave protection from the evil spirits that were abroad on the fifth day of the fifth month. The iris also symbolizes the warrior spirit so it became customary on that day for boys to bathe with its sword-like leaves. Iris are still displayed on May 5th each year as part of what was once Tango no Sekku but has now become known as Children's Day.

Japanesque Accent's wall hangings bring a unique and refreshing change from the usual Japanese paper scroll, poster or art work. For followers of feng shui, serene scenes bring good chi to one’s home. This Japanese inspired quilted wall hanging is individually quilted by myself--not mass produced. Each panel is unique with the choices of coordinating fabrics used to frame each piece. 80% of all my fabrics come from Japan.

Regularly $140.00 reduced to $115.00

This is my scroll sized wall hanging: 18 inches wide by 49 inches high including tabs. This measurement is the actual width of the wall hanging itself—does not include the rod measurement which extends slightly past the tabs or the cord it hangs from. Due to shipping constraints, natural bamboo rod and cord are included only to U.S. addresses.

This is a hand-guided, machine-quilted, fabric-framed printed solid panel (tenugui)— front panel is not individually pieced. The special way the individual layers of polyester/and or cotton batting are combined, brings out depth and dimension to these specially selected panels.

Iris design in shades of blues, lavender, royal purple and soft blue green with medium blue mottled border.

These wall hangings are done with precision and all seams and edges are straight and parallel which does not always show in the photograph due to the natural draping of the fabric. It is particularly difficult to photograph wall hangings and any distortion in their straight lines is due to how the photograph was taken and not the wall hanging itself,

Shipping costs listed are best ESTIMATES—weight can vary by a few ounces. Wall hangings ship in Priority Mailing Tube/Insured to U.S. addresses WITH bamboo rod included. They ship in bubble wrapped plastic wrapper WITHOUT rod to reduce costs to overseas addresses. Insurance is not offered for overseas shipping.

I refuse to have my customers pay more than they need to for shipping so it may be possible to reduce your shipping costs by recalculating actual weight for your state/country and/or combining your wall hanging with other purchases. Please CONVO me before paying for your item(s) so that I can give you the lowest shipping costs I can. I will then adjust the listing and relist it as reserved for you to purchase.

Wish to make a purchase but don’t see your country listed? CONVO me. It might be possible.
