Because of the nature of glass, all of my pieces are one of a kind (OOAK). Although I sometimes repeat similar patterns or similar designs, each is hand produced in very small lots (8"x8" kiln), so it's impossible to "mass produce" them.

The Process
===========
First I cut, shape and stack the glass. Next I place it into the kiln.
The glass is taken up to 1500 degrees F and fused into one solid piece. Then the temperature is reduced to approximately 950 degrees F and held there for about 30 minutes to allow the molecules to re-align. This is called annealing and it helps to strengthen the glass by removing the stresses.
The glass is then allowed to cool slowly and naturally to room temperature, at which time it can be safely removed from the kiln. This process of heating and cooling takes about 4 to 6 hours to complete.
This piece went through the heating, annealing and cooling process twice.
Handcrafted in my smoke-free Northern California oceanview studio in Trinidad, CA.

Due to differences in cameras and monitors, and the highly reflective nature of surfaces, it is extremely difficult to accurately display the brilliant colors of abalone or glass. For this reason, colors shown may be slightly different from the original. I have found, however that generally the original is much more beautiful than the pictures!!
