The Magic Flute - Opera Melody in Porcelain Music plays a dominant role in the life of the Danish artist and designer Bjørn Wiinblad. His work is characterized by the love of music. Time and again, he not only allows him to inspire him to create forms and images, but also creates complete stage equipment for opera and ballet. Bjørn Wiinblad had the idea to put his favorite opera, "The Magic Flute" by Mozart, into porcelain. And not as decoration, but as a porcelain relief. This implementation was certainly one of the biggest challenges faced by modellers and technicians in the history of this material. "Magic Flute" is a masterpiece in the processing of hard porcelain. Each service section shows a different scene from the Mozart opera. For these scenes, it was necessary to make room by extremely wide plate flags. On this stage in porcelain Wiinblad tells the story of the opera in a relief with detailed figures and ornaments. Again and again there are new things to discover in these scenes. The flags had to be as wide as never before with plates. In order to prevent their sinking during the fire, a special firing technique had to be developed for this purpose. The service "Magic Flute" has something very special that you can not see at first glance: a decoration on the underside of the porcelain! Even in the white version, all the service parts on the underside carry the text of the opera libretto of the scene, which is shown in the respective porcelain relief. Written in Bjørn Wiinblad's ornamental handwriting and decorated in gold. Another special feature of this service: the relief surfaces are not glazed, but are smoothed and polished in a complex process after the second fire. This creates the delicate, matte effect of the reliefs, which stand in charming contrast to the glazed surfaces. "Magic Flute" by Bjørn Wiinblad is an opera room in porcelain, an imaginative and unique synthesis of music and table culture. The "Magic Flute" is available in "white" and with a noble gold fund, "Sarastro".
