Custom roman shade made to order in any size (this listing is for a shade under 50" wide. for wider shades, please message me). Liner is included in the price. No need to send us anything (fabric etc)

Can be a blackout shade or regular light filtering.

This is for a corded, functional roman shade. If folds when pulled up and is flat when completely down. Mostly all of my photos are of this style.

The one in the first photo is the SMOKE BLUE 1 1/2" ribbon .

Please message me or add to the notes what size you need. If doing inside mount, you'd deduct 1/4" off the exact width of your window. If doing outside mount, you'd give the exact size shade you'd like (we do not add or subtract from the size given) Also select what color ribbon you would like. About Sew Lovely By Kelly Custom Roman Shades (ALL OTHER LISTINGS)

* Most of our roman shades are classic/flat style shades but we also do relaxed roman shades. For classic roman shades, when they are all the way down, the fabric will be flat over your window. When they are lifted up, the pleats form. When the shade is
pulled all the way up, it will usually be from an 8-12 inch drop (top pleat) from top mounting position. For corded shades, the folds are 7 inches apart throughout shade. Bottom pleat is 9 inches. If your shade is very small, there will be less pleats, possibly only 3 if a very short window. For cordless shades, the folds will be smaller, about 4" long.

* I can also do relaxed roman shades. Pleats will hang looser for relaxed shades and you may need to manually dress the shade when you pull it up and down so that the pleats form nicely. The bottom is not curved but just a less defined pleat. Relaxed shades do not have dowels inside.

* My Roman Shades can be made with blackout or regular liner. All shades need a liner. I can provide interlining if requested.
Liner protects the shade from sun damage and also secures the dowels inside. My lining fabric is white. For better blackout coverage, we recommend outside mounted roman shades.

* My classic shades come with wooden dowels inside to allow for neater, professional looking pleats. If your fabric is on the thinner side, the dowels may show through a bit when the sun shines if doing regular liner. Blackout liner will not show them at all.

* For our corded roman shades, 3 cords run through pockets up the back
of the roman shade and off to one back side of the shade for pulling it up and down to adjust it. You may wish to tie off cords up high from children and pets. If you'd like a pull that is breakaway/child proof, please let me know. Otherwise the shades come with the white wooden pull.

* If ordering roman shades with ladder tape, your roman shade will be more childproofed than our standard shades. The ladder tape contains the cords on the back so that they cannot be easily pulled outward to form a loop. Ladder tape roman shades also will come with the breakaway knob. Ladder tape roman shades are $25 more for labor per shade.

* I can add ribbon trim to the shade, as well, for an extra cost. You may send your own, or I can provide standard grosgrain colors. I have a chart on sewlovelybykelly.com/customromanshades. I also have a fancier grosgrain that is 2" wide and costs $15/yards. Otherwise, most of my stock basic ribbons are included in the labor price.

* If you have a shade over 46" wide, the pleats might be a litte less defined. Thinner plastic dowels are used for wider shades (shades over 52" wide). The wider shades will have seams down each side since the fabric needs to be sewn together to make the width. The pattern will be matched up so the seam is less visible.

* I supply white canvas fabric and some white linen blends/flax. Most of the ribbon roman shades pictured are using Sew Lovely fabric. I have more fabric for at sewlovelybykelly.com/fabric. I prefer customers send me their own fabric or select from one of my options, rather than me try to source it. You may send me your fabric directly after ordering your shades, to save money on shipping from the fabric vendor.

* I don't recommend using light weight fabric or light linen. The pleats won't look as defined. If you're ok with this look then I can work with the fabric but it's not ideal. I have a list of fabric that I discourage using on sewlovelybykelly.com/fabric-choice.

* The shades all come with a cord lock mechanism to pull shade up and down! When the roman shade is in the down position, there are no folds, as it is a flat roman shade. Folds are created when the shade is pulled up. Each string controls a different part of the shade (sides and middle). When you pull on all 3 cords to lift up you may need to adjust the shade to make it more even by pulling on the individual cords.

* I press my shades before I send them out,but you may also need to press them before hanging, as they do get wrinkled in transit. They look much prettier when ironed prior to hanging.

* I also make custom curtains and pillows.

* I don't make roman shades over 72" WIDE, but for the length I'm able to make any length needed. If your window is wider than 72" across, we recommend breaking it up into 2 or 3 shades, as the wide roman shades don't pleat as nicely or pull up as easily.

* The face fabric wraps around to the back side about 1 inch in, bordering the shade liner in the back.

* There are no blackout pinholes in the middle or our roman shades like many other shades on the market but we do have seams down the sides which can allow slight light to escape.

* If doing a cordless mount roman shade, the shade projection is about 2-3" so more light will escape the sides than our corded roman shades.

* We try to provide as much information as we can about measuring accurately on our website but if you are unsure we recommend hiring a professional to measure. Sew Lovely cannot be held responsible for measuring.

* All shades come with mounting screws and installation instructions can be found on our website. Our roman shades do not need mounts or brackets normally to mount.

DECIDING ON INSIDE OR OUTSIDE MOUNT

INSIDE MOUNT

Installed inside the window casing. This is a clean look and is nice if you have nice moldings and trim to be exposed. If you'd like the shade to mount INSIDE your window, please provide me the exact measurement of the window, length and width (not the glass but the actual window casing against and around the glass. The shade will fit snug inside the window frame. You may wish to make the shade slightly smaller than the opening.

OUTSIDE MOUNT

Installed outside the window casing, directly on the wall or molding, providing a little more coverage and privacy. French doors are normally outside mounted. If you'd like the shade to mount on top of your window, on the window frame itself or above the frame, please measure across the exact width you will need the shade to be to cover the window completely from the position you plan to mount the shade. The finished shade needs to be larger than the window casing. Also, provide the length you'd need to be covered. Mounting the shade above the frame on the wall or on the frame itself will require more fabric since more area is covered. So please measure accordingly to assure the window is covered.

Please send appropriate roman shade fabric. I prefer customers send me their own fabric, rather than me choose it, just to be certain it's exactly what the customer wants (this includes solid white shade fabric)

For ultimate blackout, you may wish to do an inside mount. I can make a shade double sided with the face fabric on the backside also. I can make without the white pockets and use rings instead if you'd prefer******For better blackout coverage (if using blackout liner) you may wish to do an inside mounted shade. Sometimes outside mounted blackout shades will allow just a bit of light to peak through when looking at the shade from the side point of view, because the shade depth is 1". You will still get excellent blackout coverage not as good as an inside mounted shade.
