Colorway: Queen Mermaid

The Mermaid series of yarns, fibers, etc. have been one of my custom colorways for as long as I've been dyeing fiber. The 'Queen' of the mermaids is just taking the already stunning mix of teals, greens, and blues and deepening them into rich, jewel tones. All mermaids are beautiful - but the queen - in her dark lair beneath the sea - commands your attention.

This sock yarn is my favorite. A good, sturdy yarn but ooberly soft and luscious. The added nylon makes for strong heels and toes. There are 435 yds in this 105 gram skein. I have made a woman's size 8 sock from the same base yarn and still had 25-30 grams left over so you could make a longer sock leg or still get a pair for up to an 11 foot.

Though superwash is reputed to be machine washable, I caution you to do so only at your preference and in cold water. Even superwashed wool cannot be forbidden to act like wool when combined with warm to hot water, soap, and machine agitation. You wouldn't want to risk felting this next-to-skin soft and gorgeous yarn. I prefer to wash my wool items by hand and lay flat to dry.
