EDYTH O'NEILL Doll Body pattern for China or Papier Mache head
Digital file type(s): 1 PDF
Doll making and doll dressing were skills much employed in 19th century America. A busy mother might not have time, but an older sister or grandmother could sew a doll body for a purchased china or papier mache head.
For today’s doll enthusiasts, making a pleasing doll body is still a useful skill. Finding interesting old shoulder heads and making an appropriate cloth body is a great way to have a nice collection at a modest cost. I have always done a lot of that and many of my favorite dolls have new bodies I have made for them.
Available by digital download, this 7 page pdf includes material suggestions, doll body pattern, sewing instructions, and photographs. This pattern is suitable for many types of shoulder head dolls. It may be sized up or down on a copier to fit a particular head. As given, the body makes about a 22 inch doll.
Happy Doll Making!
