Can I have my prescription lenses fitted.

All our optical frames can have your prescription installed as indeed can the sunglass frames. This is a specialist service which we do not supply ourselves. The complexity involved in such a service in medical, admin and pricing terms are realistically beyond the remit of an etsy shop. Please fulfill your prescription requirements through the normal channels and rest assured, we have had countless customers who have done so before ( with no connection to etsy ).

Some frames don't seem expensive enough for me to use for my prescription. What's up with that?

We sell every range of product, to every range of customer. Our products were tried and tested, a very long time before we started to sell them online. This is where experience pays off. We haven't ordered a container load to be drop shipped and hope there won't be too many returns. We have been selling face to face for 28 years. If we are selling something cheaply, we still made sure it does what we say it does, based on what previous customers have testified. We have lots of expensive eyewear in our shop too, which we'd prefer you to buy, particularly if you're the category of customer who needs that kind of reassurance. The 'quality' argument is a book not a FAQ. So we'll just supply the truth and you decide what you're comfortable with.

As a consumer please ensure that all received packaging is disposed of in the right recycling containers, Blue for all paper & cardboard and Yellow for all plastics.

Customs tariff for USA

For buyers in the USA. The introduction of tariffs has caused chaos which is easily of the same magnitude as the pandemic, and still remains to be seen if it's actually worse. It certainly looks that way so far. The result is that we have had to increase the postage fees for the US to include the payment of duties at the point of purchase. This prevents it literally being collected by the postman, which was the scenario before we arranged this solution. The increase is about £5 for lower value items, which considering we have not increased our item prices in a decade we consider something closer to a triumph than a fair trade. And that triumph is at the benefit of the buyer, not us.

Early 90s glasses with tortoise arms and matching encapsulated rim which is cased in a metal frame surround.
We would say these are the right option if you want vintage because it's good quality, has some kind of authenticity that you cannot necessarily put your finger on, and, how can we put this, is not too 'vintagey'. In other words, maybe the kind of customer who wants Persol, Armani or Oliver Peoples even, but cannot justify spending £250. We sell those brands too and their quality is certainly superior. But it's definitely nowhere near 10 times better. Alas, their marketing is.
