In Sanskrit its name means ‘the vitality of the horse’ and it imparts such energy; somnifera promotes sleep. An herb of wide value, generally known as the ginseng of Ayurvedic medicine and is an ancient medicinal herb with multiple health benefits. Upright shrub exceeds 2' with inconspicuous green-to-yellow flowers ripening to red berries. Roots are dried at the end of the growing season and used internally powdered or tinctured (other plant parts are toxic if eaten). Plant the seeds about 1/4 inch deep in the soil. Lightly cover them with soil.

Watering:
Water the soil gently to keep it moist but not waterlogged. Ensure the soil is consistently moist during the germination period.

Creating a Greenhouse Effect:
Cover the seed trays or pots with a clear plastic cover or plastic wrap. This helps to retain moisture and warmth, creating a mini-greenhouse effect.

Light and Temperature:
Place the seed trays or pots in a warm location with indirect sunlight. Ashwagandha seeds germinate best at temperatures between 70-85°F

Monitoring and Maintenance:
Check the soil moisture regularly and water as needed to keep it moist.

Transplanting:
