The Kangarobe™ makes kangaroo care in the NICU safer and easier for nurses, parents and baby. Kangaroo care in the NICU has numerous long lasting benefits for newborn babies and for mothers, but until now it has been difficult to do.

With input from NICU nurses and neonatologists, we designed a new patent-pending product called The Kangarobe™. The Kangarobe™ is a robe-like garment that a parent wears to hold their premature baby for skin-to-skin care. Baby's lines and tubes are secured with special fasteners instead of tape, and nurses can perform medical checks on baby via the vertical window without disturbing kangaroo care. A belt protects the baby from sliding down.

A pilot study completed in the NICU at Stanford Children's Hospital shows that, as compared to the standard of care, parents and nurses agree that:
