Nargis's notes:
Introducing The Berber Bazaar Collection, an extraordinary blend of Moroccan and Afghan rug-making heritages. Crafted from premium Afghan wool, my handmade rugs take inspiration from the vibrant and audacious designs of Moroccan wool rugs, culminating in a collection that transcends time and convention. Ranging from geometric contours to elaborate floral patterns, our rugs appeal to both classical and modern sensibilities. The eternal design of classic Moroccan carpets has been gracefully sculpted by hand into the luxurious pile of premium Afghan wool. Adorned with a woven tapestry of braided tassels, the rug's edges unveil the masterfully interlaced foundation. At The Rug Mine, we uphold sustainable, ethical, and fair trade principles, ensuring that every rug not only serves as a stunning adornment but also stands as a tribute to the profound culture and artistry of Afghan and Moroccan rug-making traditions.

Fair trade, sustainable, and ethical—beyond the rug's quality:

• Fair pay: Nargis goes beyond the expected, ensuring Afghan artists receive not only their contracted rates but also a share of the profits, truly embodying the spirit of fair pay.

• Sustainability: Artisans are the heart and soul of our small business. Our commitment to them includes purchasing natural materials and resources, such as hand-spun wool and natural dyes, to uplift their communities.

• Child-Labor Prevention: At The Rug Mine, we are dedicated to ensuring fair wages for artisanal families so that their children are not forced into labor due to inadequate pay and can remain in school.

• Empowering Artisans: We are passionate about promoting gender equity and helping artisans gain financial security through our fair trade initiatives. To this end, our female-owned small business is dedicated to empowering Afghan women, who are the majority of our weaving partners.
