Unique hand painted decoration on antique ceramic tile from the 1910s. It's an original, a unique piece of art, no other copy exists. This tile is from our outstanding collection of unique ceramics. The tile is decorated with a painting of flowers and a leaf motif on a black background. The dominant colors are teal, coral red and black. The foreground features an intricate pattern of leaves in various shades of blue, while the background is solid black. At the center of the composition is a single leaf in bright blues and greens, surrounded by smaller flowers in lighter hues. This floral arrangement creates this beautiful abstract design.
The texture created by this artwork is both delicate and bold at once; it's almost as if one could reach out and feel its softness or trace their fingers along its curves. Its complexity draws attention to every detail, from each individual petal to each stitch that holds them together. It's easy to imagine how this piece would look hanging on someone's wall - adding beauty wherever it goes!
Excellent condition with tiny chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. Used only in the private collection of previous owner.
It is hand-painted using good-quality acrylic paints which have been sealed with various coats of varnish. There may be slight original imperfections in the tile because it was originally hand cast — these can be seen in the photos.
The tile is 40 cm in length, 19.5 cm wide at the bottom tapering to 15 cm at the top and 6 cm deep. There is a strong cord tied from the holes from which the tile can hang (see photos). It weighs 1.644 kg.
