This is a two-drawer tool chest made of White Oak. The top is made from a piece of "character grade" plain-cut lumber, but the frame and front are made from quartersawn "barky" White Oak. Other "non-barky" pieces of white oak are used for the ends and back.

The top bay beneath the hinged lid has a removable (sliding) tray.

"Barky" material contains bark inclusions in the cut lumber, which result from the convoluted way this particularly tree grew. The tops and sides are inlayed with narrow stips of Black Walnut, for contrast.

The drawer pulls are white porcelain, and the drawer latches are bright chrome-finished. Lift handles are handmade.

A "drop-pin" drawer lock is incorporated to keep the drawers from falling out when the chest is moved. Used in combination is padlocks on the latches, locking secures both the lid and the drawers.

Both drawers and the top tray have removable green felt linings and removable dividers.

The overall dimensions are 19-in (length) x 12-in (deep) x 8-in (height). Weight is about 20 lbs. Chest bottom and drawer bottoms are birch plywood. The interior is finished in hand-rubbed amber shellac.

The chest is finished with an Early American stain and many coats of hand-rubbed polyurethane varnish.
