Description

BUY TODAY, BUILD TODAY, PLANT TODAY.

!!!
Remember, it's never too late -- or too early -- to start a garden.
!!!

**
UPDATE For 2018
**

-> I have been asked recently how to make a taller planter, so I added a second height option to the plans - you can make 30" or 40" tall planter.

-> The side support post has been removed, replaced by a less conspicuous but perhaps more stable support rail inside the top of the planter (see images).

==== ====

You can build your own raised planting bed quickly and easily, for very little expense*. These simple instructions walk you through the process of building a sturdy, inexpensive planter.

Plans include
-supplies list,
-full color photos of the process, and
-detailed instructions.

Don't wait --> You can DOWNLOAD the plans (in pdf format) INSTANTLY when you order!

The finished planter is 30 inches wide and 72 inches long, and stands 30 inches tall -- a good height for chair-bound people, children, or adults of any age who prefer to not stoop to the ground to garden.

The planting area is roughly 10 inches deep, suitable for many root vegetables.

As an added bonus, the area beneath the planter is roughly 11 inches high, leaving room for storage, or planting of other plants in the ground below.

Photos on Etsy are examples of finished products, some in use.
Soil and plants not included.

My goal is to offer a process that is easy for non-carpenters and everyday folks (like me) to follow with ease, using supplies readily available from any hardware or home improvement store. I even had the home improvement store do all the cutting for me, which better insures accurate cuts.

Depending on your skill, this project should take roughly an hour or two to complete.

* Supplies list priced out around $90 in 2018, not including soil.

We used these plans to build two of these and we love them so far! We opted not to use the side braces for now because we liked the clean look better and felt like they were well supported without that piece. It took us a weekend to build them both with 2 people (could be done in a day without distractions, but we have 3 kids haha)

In our area these cost us about $105 per bed to build plus another $40 per bed for soil (We used the mixture referenced in the plans, but opted to fill them completely full instead of 3/4 because we know they'll settle before planting time. That meant 6cu ft of gardening soil, 6cu ft of compost, and 1/2 a bag of vermiculite per bed.

Overall, we are very pleased with them & will probably end up building a couple more before the season is over! The height is perfect and the plans were easy to follow!
