I believe this steamer trunk is from the late 1800s having found another that is just like it with a story.
My hobby is searching around town to find these 19th century beauties and then restoring them to look their best.
I've spent three months refining her and bringing her to life all by hand in my spare time at home. I think it would make a wonderful coffee table, end piece to a bed or a storage unit (i.e. blankets, linens, china, etc.)
Originally it was compiled of wood panels, black canvas and metal structuring which has all been cleaned, stained and re-finished to look just lovely again.
(I even shined up all 550 studs by hand using the Dremmel tool. :)

Her 2 front locks are NOT functional but I don't think it does anything to take away from the appearance and personally I think it adds mystery to her story. The lid opens and closes with ease and besides three clean tears on the top of the lid (see photos) there is no obvious damage that keeps her from being functional. I tried my best to keep the piece original.

Clean using only a damp cloth.

The interior is in good condition with freshly-layed wallpaper (large, neutral magnolia print- a very fresh look) to seal this masterpiece. She will truly make a statement in your home.
Rich, chic and elegant...and suitable for many personalities.
