Description

"Salvatore Ferragamo...he started out making shoes for Hollywood film stars at the beginning of the Twenties, but is largely remembered for creating the wedge heel in the Thirties. The wedge heels came in various forms but fundamentally consisted of an upper made of padded kid leather with a strap that wrapped around the ankle. The wedge was initially made with steel but the austerity of the war forced him to experiment with other materials, such as cork, straw, and wood. He even replaced the leather on the shoes and straps with cellophane, which was seen as particularly innovative at this time." - Shopping for Vintage: The Definitive Guide to Fashion by Funmi Odulate

Soft, luscious suede marries with smooth Italian leather in these mod 1960s collectible Salvatore Ferragamo wedge heels! Featuring a delightful tangerine orange color, these radiant summer sandals would look lovely paired with your favorite resort or beach themed attire! Making a thoughtful gift for a mid century Man Men style fashionista who needs a little leisurely luxury in her life, these persimmon colored Ferragamo wedges are sure to brighten up her wardrobe! Take a vacation getaway and accessorize with classic Old Hollywood flair with these spectacular Salvatore Ferragamo designer slingback shoes!

"The image of Marilyn Monroe standing on a subway grating attempting to hold her skirt down, is one of the most famous in movie history. What is less well known is that the shoes she wore were made by Salvatore Ferragamo."...Ferragamo's "shop, Hollywood Boot Shop became known as the 'shoe-shop to the stars', with clients including Mary Pickford, Pola Negri, Clara Bow, and Rudolph Valentino."..."After the war, Ferragamo continued to make shoes for royalty and movie stars. He became an ambassador of Italian style, working for the officially sanctioned 'Made in Italy' promotion, which aimed to redefine Italy as a land of glamorous dolce vita after Mussolini's fascist regime." - Shoes by Judith Miller

In virtually LIKE NEW condition, these vintage 1960s Salvatore Ferragamo wedge sandals show nearly no signs of wear...making them a spectacular gift! The tangerine orange suede and leather exterior shows barely any signs of wear and looks like it is practically in mint condition, aside from a few faint scratches to the backs of the suede wedge heels; but this is hardly noticeable at all! I think that these light indentation scuffs might actually be able to buffed away with no sign of them ever being there as they are so very faint on the soft, textured suede and have no staining to them what so ever. They are only detected when closely examined in the light. Other than this, the interior insoles are virtually flawless with no signs of usage or patina from wear, and the metallic gold "Salvatore Ferragamo Florence Made in Italy" brand label is still glistening beautifully! Lastly, the heel tips and bottom soles of these summer slingbacks are nearly pristine and look barely walked in (as seen in the last image).

Measurements:
Size 7 1/2 AAA
Insole: 9 3/4"
Width: 2 7/8"
Heel: 2"
