Description

Autumn Days - Keats House, Hampstead

Keats House, or Wentworth Place as it was originally known, was built in Hampstead in 1815 as a pair of semi-detached houses designed to appear as one building.
The poet John Keats (1795-1821) began to visit the house in 1817. In December 1818, after the death of his brother, Keats went to lodge in the smaller (left hand) half of the house with his friend Charles Brown. It was in this house that Keats met and fell in love with Fanny Brawne whose mother rented the larger half of the house. In his letters to her he wrote of the song thrush in the garden. In September 1820 he departed for Italy and died in Rome, a victim of tuberculosis in February 1821, aged 25.

This pretty card will be appreciated by fans of Keats, English literature, gardens and birds!

Professionally printed, it measures 17.5 x 12.5 cms folded and is blank inside for your message.
Decorative reverse with explanatory text and my logo.

It comes with a brown kraft envelope in a cellophane sleeve.

Autumn Days is another in my ongoing series of cut paper collages of Writers' Houses. The resulting cards have been featured in The Guardian, Stylist, Homes & Antiques and Chinese lifestyle magazine Little Thing.
