Flat Top Kritzler Fountain Pen

Hefty flat top Kritzler in a dark blue green marble on a light greenish ivory with a flexible 14kt #8 Kritzler nib varying from medium fine to broad. While it is flexible users who have applied excessive pressure have seen Kritzler's nibs break. The ink flows is very generous and the wide barrel holds a substantial volume of ink. Capped the pen is 5" long and 1/2" girth. Louis Kritzler purchased his pen bodies from jobbers in NYC. Many bear strong resemblance to Morrison flat tops; this particular body looks like a Morrison 'Tourist' to me but that is a guess. Kritzler often gold washed his trim; it is uncommon to find it without brassing and this pen is no exception. The top and ball of the Z-clip is worn as well as the lollypop lever. The cap band has stood up pretty well. Overall, whatever the base alloy, the trim patina matches very nicely to the existing brassing. The celluloid retains good color with only a smidge of discoloration evenly over the barrel surface. There are no dings or major scratches; it has a good shine. Curiously there is no barrel imprint. The nib is does bear Kritzler's name in script. A century old pen with a flexible nib for the careful writer. It should be used gently. Good user grade condition and a piece of fountain pen history from a craftsman goldsmith of the early 20th century.
