Description

Whether you make this little sweetheart in thread, worsted-weight yarn, bulky yarn, or anything in between, Madison is a fun and easy jointed bear that makes a beloved gift for bear lovers of all ages. Depending on the age of the recipient, joints and eyes can be created with buttons, beads, or simply yarn.

Size

Madison is about 11” tall standing when made with worsted yarn.

Materials

Worsted weight or other yarn in color of choice. Bear shown is made with about 5 oz. Patons Canadiana #24471 Beige.

G hook for worsted-weight yarn or hook size appropriate to achieve a firm but not stiff crochet fabric

For eyes: black half-ball shank buttons for eyes (bear shown was made with 3/8” diameter buttons) OR black yarn for embroidering eyes

For button or bead joints: Four four-hole flat buttons OR four beads large enough not to slip between crochet stitches

Safety notice

Buttons and small parts can be a hazard to small children. Instructions are included for creating embroidered eyes and yarn-only joints for bears for children under the age of three.
