This bowl made from plane tree was turned wet, one day after the tree was felled. Plane tree wood is known to warp a lot when it dries, and this bowl is no different. The unavoidable cracks were stabilized early on with cyanoacrylate (superglue). The warping caused the bowl to "come apart" quite a bit, which is particularly noticeable at the top edge. The bottom was sanded down after it was completely dry, and the bowl stands upright (at normal humidity).
The character of the bowl is not only determined by its "crooked" shape, the very fine-grained wood is also an eye-catcher, and last but not least, it is known that plane trees smell of horse manure. This is hardly noticeable after treatment with wax oil, but if you know it...
