Aren't these beautiful? I love the vivid, garish colours on old linen postcards.

I don't know the actual dates of these unused cards. I decided on '1940's' as a compromise. White border cards were seldom printed after the 1930's and linen cards were printed from the 1930's to the mid 1950's.

These are great fun to use in a collage, on the front of a handmade card, in a mixed media piece, suspended in a shadow box or wherever else your imagination takes you. Hey, you could even mail them to someone!

The Sweetwater, Texas card is printed by the famous Curt Teich company. This was a generic 'Greetings From ________, Texas' card. A town would order them with their name on it. In this case, the town of Sweetwater. The other two cards are by Colourpicture, another well known linen postcard publisher.

I also have 'Greetings From Pueblo' Colorado:

TRIVIA - Linen Postcards

Linen postcards got their name from the texture that resulted from the type of paper used. They were printed from 1931 to 1959, being most popular just after WW II. Even though the images were based on photographs they were often touched up by hand. They were to be the last postcards to show any touch of the human hand on them.

Why not 'Favourite' our shop while you're here? That way you can find us, again. After all, it's so easy to get lost on Etsy. :o(

If you are in a rush to receive your goodies and are willing to pay the extra cost, I'm happy to send your parcel via a quicker option. If you prefer faster shipping, just let me know and I'll investigate the cost for you.
