The featured pattern is Thistle, one of the most complex patterns you can make in paper marbling! I start the pattern with a basic Gel-git, then bisect the the lines exactly in the reverse direction to make a chevron pattern (this is the tricky part). In the final step, I take a bouquet rake and move it down the tray in a wave pattern, and you have a thistle like pattern. It is a more difficult and complex variation of the Peacock pattern.

I make all of the papers by hand in my studio, in Ottawa, Canada. Marbled papers are traditionally used as endpapers for bookbinding, but they have a wide range of other uses such as collage, origami, scrap-booking, greeting cards, framing, box-making, and other paper crafts.

• Sheet size: 9" x 12"

• Paper weight: 55 lb text

• Paint: Acrylic on carrageenan size

• Grain: long

9"x12" size papers will be shipped to you flat in a large card-stock envelope to prevent bending during shipment. 19"x25" size papers are shipped rolled in a tube. If you purchase both large and small sizes and wishes to combine shipping, your papers will all be rolled together and shipped to you in a tube. Unless you give me specific instructions to cut them down to 9"x12", you'll pay the shipping rate for the larger size.

Shipping additional papers are FREE within the same order, so whether you order 1 sheet or 10 sheets shipping cost is the same to your location. Be sure to check out my other papers before checkout.

I apologize that I cannot offer lower shipping rates. I do not make any profit from shipping the papers. Unfortunately shipping from Canada is expensive. I hope to save you some money by offering FREE COMBINED SHIPPING of additional papers within the same order.

Paper Marbling is an ancient art of painting on a aqueous base. The colors are dropped on to the surface using whisks, then they are manipulated with rakes and combs to create the intricate designs you see here. Unlike traditional print-making, each sheet of marbled paper is individually hand painted and therefore one of a kind.
