How is bakuchiol oil similar to retinol?
Like retinol, the effects of bakuchiol oil include improved skin texture, renewal, pigmentation, and anti-aging. When using this product, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, so please always use sunscreen.

How is Bakuchiol different from retinol?
Bakuchiol is generally found to be gentler on the skin than retinol. The results from bakuchiol oil vary from traditional retinol; some people prefer bakuchiol oil and vice versa.

Is Bakuchiol a moisturizer? No. It works much the same way that retinol works. Bakuchiol (which contains natural vitamin A) can be dry just like retinol (which contains synthetic vitamin A), and we use bakuchiol oil in a similar way to how we use retinol: We only use a small amount, pair it with moisturizer and always use sunscreen.

How soon until I start noticing results?
You should start noticing a difference in your skin's appearance within the first two weeks of using this product.

You do not need to use a carrier oil. It can be used directly on the skin. You can add bakuchiol serum to your moisturizer/carrier oil if you want to take fewer steps in your routine.

What is the difference between cold-pressed (9-10% bakuchiol oil) and distilled (100% bakuchiol)?

Cold pressed (what we sell) is bakuchi oil with (9-10% bakuchiol oil). The downside of this type is that it can make skin more sensitive to the sun. This is why it is always recommended to use sunscreen when using this product (but we should be using it every day anyway). Some prefer this type because the bakuchiol is less concentrated, can be applied directly to the skin, and is less expensive.

Distilled (100% bakuchiol) is very concentrated and can NOT be used directly on the skin (you could burn it), and if you are using this type, you need to dilute it with another oil so it is at a safe concentration. 100% bakuchiol is generally only recommended for manufacturers of skin care products who know and understand the safety precautions.

We only sell the 9-10% because it is the safest for the consumer (although you must wear sunscreen).
