This is simply the most darling children's book! Titled "Susie's New Stove," it was published in 1950 by Simon and Schuster. I've never seen a Little Golden Book that features an actual toy available for purchase in the story. However, in this book, Susie cooks on a "Little Chef" made by Tacoma Metal Products. Susie's stove is electric, has a plug and can really cook food.

In the story, written by Annie North Bedford, Susie gets creative in her toy kitchen with her brother Mike. Or sometimes she invites her friend Carol over for a culinary play date. The author includes a page on cooking safety along with easy little recipes for things like cocoa, scrambled egg, frozen vegetables, boiled frankfurter, canned soup and more.

With charming illustrations by Corinne Malvern, this hard to find book has the letter "A" on the last page indicating it is a first edition. In good condition, the cover has some shelf wear, grime, bends and rubbing to the edges and spine; the interior pages are clean with a few folds, tears and age spots. Measuring 6.75 by 8 inches, this book is signed "Vicky" on the inside front cover.
