urban, seen in the first few photos, is a large wet felted piece in white polwarth wool. the buildings are stenciled on by hand with a limited edition handcut print and high quality fabric paints.
heat set. measures roughly 19" x 39.5" with thin, raw edges.
wool is such a versatile and dreamy fibre to work with, and felt is used in so many different applications.
this piece was designed to be used lightly on the floor as a cozy companion for your bare feet, or hung on the wall as a unique fiber art piece. thin enough to be placed on a table top, and for light wear.
little bits of veggie matter and seeds seen in the piece are a natural part of using sheeps wool.
for care: handwash, cold water, lay flat to dry.
better yet, for extra long life - spot clean with a damp sponge, dabbing and not rubbing..
wool has a fair amount of defense to soiling, so catch the spill it before it sinks in and you should be fine. the magic of natural fiber!
