Made from a large wild black cherry tree which died from natural causes and was harvested locally. This tree was estimated to be over 150 years old. The lumber was sawn by a local sawmill and was air dried for over a year before being placed into my solar kiln to finish drying to 8% moisture (furniture grade). Using book matched slabs 2" thick, the top was created of three pieces joined together with a maple spline and inlaid dovetails of maple and walnut. The base is made of three consecutive slices revealing the beautiful grain patterns of the tree. This piece was finished with a marine sparn hand polished with butcher block oil which provides a safe eating surface for food.
Live edge cherry table done in Appalachian style with inset dovetails of walnut and maple.
