Primitive very rare 'Melvin Copeland Plane. M. Copeland' is marked on the front nose.
Melvin & Alfred Copeland worked out of Hartford, Connecticut circa 1826 to 1830. They were makers of some finest wooden planes. This is a very early plane, made by Melvin Copeland.
Melvin Copeland worked in Huntington, MA, starting in the year 1842.
'please note the 4th photo is of the blade, nice bead' very clean and ready to use.

This plane is very solid, sturdy and all parts move properly. Excellent condition commensurate with age being a primitive piece, no holes, missing parts at all. This plane would be a perfect addition for a antique rare tool collector. Found in a rural farm estate in Stowe, Vermont
