A solid Bello Opal ring in the color Ruby Red, custom made to your specifications. The Ruby Red Bello Opal has a primary color of deep red, with secondary flashes of yellow, bright red, violet, and green.

Choose between a smooth or a faceted finish! The faceted finish has randomized/asymmetrical facets and smoothed edges for comfortable wear.

Ring Features
-The interior edges of the ring are rounded in a 'comfort fit' design for easier removal and pinch-free wearability.
-The interior is polished to 1,500 grit (1 micron) to ensure a comfortable wear.
-The exterior is polished to 80,000 grit (0.375 micron) giving a flawless mirror finish.
-Size & width measurements guaranteed to within 0.15mm allowing for an accurate 1/4 size selection.

What is Bello Opal?
Bello Opal is a lab-grown synthetic opal. It is made from submicroscopic spheres of silica and has a refractive index between 1.37 and 1.47, which means it has the same physical and optical properties as natural opal. Once the opal has been created it is stabilized through a process called polymer impregnation. This is a similar process to which many other porous gemstones are stabilized, like turquoise, jade, and lapis lazuli.

Why use Bello Opal?
Bello Opal has 3 big advantages over natural opal. 1) Affordability. Natural opal can cost up to $10,000 per carat! That's over 1,000 times more expensive than what you pay for Bello Opal. 2) Workability. Since Bello Opal is stabilized it can be shaped into more complex structures than natural opal. Natural opal is quite delicate, and will chip or crack easily. 3) Color Control. Because it is synthesized in a lab, Bello Opal can be created in a wide array of colors, giving so many more options than natural opal does. In addition, natural opal tends to yellow over time as the stone dries out and is exposed to the sunlight and other environmental contaminants. Bello Opal will not yellow over time. These 3 features of Bello Opal make it increasingly popular in the jewelry industry, and without sacrificing any of the remarkable optical properties that opal is known for.

A note on choosing your width:
Each solid Bello Opal ring we sell is custom made per order, based on your specifications. In addition to choosing your ring size, you also choose the width of your ring (between 6mm and 10mm). This choice is totally up to you, but there are some things to keep in mind as your make your decision.
For starters, it's a good idea to scale your ring width to match your ring size. Thinner rings will generally look better on smaller fingers, just as a thicker ring will look better on large fingers.
Next, you can also think about "traditional" gender roles. While we sell our rings as unisex, some find it helpful to know that a traditional woman's band is most commonly 6mm, and a men's band is most commonly 8mm.
Lastly, keep in mind that the beauty of opal is in how it captures light and reflects it in dazzling colors. The wider your ring, the more play of color will be seen and the more eye-catching it will be.

Each ring is cut from a solid slab of stone and worked to your exact specifications. Please make sure that you choose the right ring size!

This ring is durable enough to stand up to average daily wear, but can be scratched or cracked if worn during strenuous activity. We don't recommend wearing our ring on a finger adjacent to a metal ring as it will scratch.
