Unusual bowl made from a very interesting piece of holly (Ilex) with green grain and branches in places. At the beginning of my hobby in the summer of 2021, in a wild experimental mood, I injected 6 walnut sticks and gave it an initial shape on the discounter lathe (which, however, turned out to be far too weak for further design). With an adequate machine, tools and increased skill on my part, I took on the workpiece again 2 years later to turn it out.
The inside of the bowl is adapted to the tapered outer shape, the base is solid for stability. The walnut rods are very even on the base, but not on the inside of the bowl. This is due to the experimental phase; multiple clamping and re-clamping, as well as working on two lathes, caused the workpiece to be slightly off-center.
The drying crack on the back appeared 2 years ago and was stabilized with superglue.
