This ammonite fossil dates back to the age of dinosaurs, averaging 100 million years old. A type of cephalopod, or mollusk, they are related to squids and snails, but are now extinct.

This fossil is bezel set in fine and sterling silver, and is suspended on a sterling silver chain with handmade links accenting the chain. Closes with a sterling toggle clasp.

The fossil measures approx 3\/4 inches wide, and drops about 1 1\/4 inches from the sterling chain. Necklace measures 16 1\/2 inches in length.

The entire piece has been given a dark patina and then given a brushed finish.
