This is a beautiful, original 1916 book plate print of three foxes in the snow, by the famous wildlife artist, Louis Agassiz Fuertes.

The foxes are a Red Fox, a Silver Fox and a Cross Fox (dark version of a red fox, with a cross on its back).

This is a genuine original bookplate print and nearly 100 years old. It is not a copy or reproduction. It is in excellent condition with no marks or foxing, as can be seen in the picture.

Fuertes is most well known for his paintings of birds, which have featured in many of the most eminent ornithological guide books and encyclopaedias. The series of North American wildlife paintings, from which this print was taken, has been admired for nearly 100 years now, and is still as fresh and charming for modern homes as ever.

The print is taken from the 1916 National Geographic publication , "Larger North American Mammals". As with most prints from vintage books, there may be text on the reverse of the print which does not relate to the image.

This small vintage print has a tasteful matt black mount. It will fit a standard 8” x 6” frame, these are easily available. The mount is easily removable if you wish to use a different one.

• size with mount - 8" x 6" – a standard frame size (15.24 x 20.3cm)
