Elevate Your Craftsmanship! This pattern creates stunning historical embroidery for cuffs and collars, dissolving in water, leaving only your handiwork. The timeless flower motif, laid out in beginner-friendly straight gridded lines, brings a touch of the past to the present. A bold design at 2.5 in/5.7 cm, inspired by medieval tapestries and ethnic folk traditions worldwide, it's sure to stand out in a crowd.

This pattern comes in two sizes/gauges:

2mm/stitch grid, or about 12 stitches per inch. Finished size 3.6 cm \ 1.4 in wide and 16"/40cm long. A small, delicate gauge, perfect for more experienced stitchers. Using 2 strands of 6-stranded embroidery floss or perlé embroidery thread works best.

3mm/stitch grid, or about 8.5 stitches per inch. Finished size 5.4 cm \ 2.1 in wide and 16"/40cm long. A nice big gauge easy for beginners and covering large areas quickly. Using 3 strands of 6-stranded cotton embroidery floss works perfectly.

Blackwork Embroidery: An ancient art with roots in the Middle East and North Africa. It traveled through cultures, shaping traditional folk embroidery styles from Renaissance Italy to Tudor England. Embraced by historical enthusiasts, it ranges from monochromatic precision in Tudor England to vibrant hues like blue, yellow, red, and green. Diverse stitches showcase individuality, making each piece special.

This pattern has been laser-printed onto water-soluble self-adhesive interfacing. It's a lightweight material that sticks onto fabric, bending and moving with it. You can use the entire sheet at once, or cut it into pieces and use it for smaller projects, or to do a project in sections.

When your embroidery is complete, put your project in water for 5 minutes to dissolve the interfacing, then gently rub it with your fingers to remove all traces.

Tips:
-Be careful when placing the interfacing. It can bear a little bit of repositioning, but its stickiness decreases every time you put it onto a piece of fabric. After a few days attached to the fabric, it will lose its tackiness, and once you peel it away it will no longer stick to anything new.
-Iron your fabric before attaching the interfacing, because the pattern interfacing will shrink when heated up.
-Protect your project from getting wet before you're done! Accidental exposure to damp will make the pattern melt away.

This pattern was designed and manufactured in our studio in Alberta, Canada.
