2 books of vintage art and romantic poetry - 1925

Beautiful and charming Art Deco style by the same artist -- Marie Honre Myers -- illustrate each little book:

Someone Like You by James W. Foley
Gardens and You by Molly Anderson Haley

Both books are small 5" x 6"; about 12 pages each. The books are bound with the closed edges of the pages on the outer edge and the open edge of the pages stapled in the binding. This is a classy, high end style of binding books similar to Japanese Stab Binding. No marks but some wear to covers. Very cute, unusual books

James W. Foley (1874-1939) was a writer, editor, and poet from Bismarck, North Dakota. He was hired as the Bismarck Tribune's city editor in 1892. During his years with the Tribune, he became involved in politics, and served as private secretary to Governors Sarles and Hanna. He continued to write, and sold poetry to the New York Times. Foley moved to California in 1913 for health reasons. Foley was made Poet Laureate of North Dakota, and was published many times until his death. (from State Historical Society of North Dakota)

Molly Whitford Anderson Haley (1888 -?) was a poet who was published at least through the 1930's. I don't have much information on her. This is also the case for the artist Marie Honre Myers - I found other books she illustrated but no biographical information.

Really cute, special little books for a special friend or loved one.
