WOW! What a wonderful piece of wearable history! This is a women's 1940s WAVES (US Women's Naval Reserve) uniform jacket (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WAVES), with patches and medals obviously removed by the original owner (whose name, R. Burke, is stencilled inside the front peplum of this stylishly tailored piece). Made of a navy wool gabardine material. Buttons down front with carved plastic buttons that have the American eagle perched on an anchor. Inner satin-finish acetate liner. All in all, a wonderful wartime piece of clothing that is timelessly stylish!

Approximate Measurements of Garment (in inches):
Bust: to 38 laid flat (fit my 37" busted mannequin with ease)
Waist: 32"
Hips: 44"
Length: 25"
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 17.5"

Condition: Very goodt. Held back from mint by a very hard-to-notice mended area (looks like a period repair) and some sheen marks from the garment having been pressed (particularly a lighter patch of sheen below the left breast pocket). The liner and seam along the lapels of the jacket were hand repaired at some point in the history of this garment, too. Not visible when worn. Otherwise, this item is in very nice and wearable condition. Still, it is sold as is and as a final sale, so please ask all questions and request any extra photos BEFORE purchase. Thanks!
