1 mm thick felt (1/16").
This felt is cut by hand, and piece sizes can vary slightly.

This wool felt meets and exceeds all safety standards.
It is not processed with any harsh chemicals and is toxin-free.

This felt is made from natural, renewable, dyed wool fiber from merino sheep, pressed together using a needle felt/steam process. Environmentally friendly and ‘close to the sheep’. The wool fiber has simply been cleaned, carded, dyed and pressed into fabric.

*THIS* is the good stuff! Pure, 100% merino wool felt specifically created for sewing and hand-crafting. Don't confuse this pure fabulous felt with a wool-blend felt. There's a whole world of difference between the two. The term 'wool felt' is often used loosely. Some 'wool felts' contain as little as 10% wool - the remaining fiber being acrylic, rayon or viscose. If you're looking for wool felt, you've come to the right place. This is pure, 100% wool felt.

When putting your time and talent into a project, I recommend using the finest materials available otherwise the effort put into the handmade item is lost. The entire experience of crafting - from the 'doing' to the 'ooooooh!-ing' - is better with quality materials.

Yes it is. This quality wool felt can be washed.

Hand-washing results in the least amount of shrinkage (5-10%). To hand wash, place in a sink of cool water. Use a small amount of liquid dish soap. Soak for a few minutes, drain sink, rinse with cool water, roll in a towel to remove excess water and air dry.

Hot water and laundry soap in the washing machine followed by a hot dryer will cause 20-30% shrinkage. Also, the texture will change. The felt becomes thicker and bumpier; not 'pilly', but with more texture. It will no longer be the smooth felt that you started with. It can be ironed out a bit, but will remain thicker.

Please contact me for additional washing details and results for specific applications.
Oh heck no!!!

It's a fact that sheep produce wool. But there are hundreds of different breeds of sheep. Each breed produces a different type of wool fiber. Some sheep's fiber is soft and silky (like Merino), some is stiff and coarse (like sheep from Nepal). Some is curly or thick or short or long. Also, processing methods and types of dye can make a very big difference in the finished product.

No, all 100% wool felt is not created equal.
