It’s hard to find Fordite that is this vibrant, but here it is! This beautiful pendant is 1.25 inches long with the Silver bail by .8 inches wide. The colors are a beautiful metallic red, blue, white and silver.

Fordite, also known as Detroit agate, is old automobile paint which has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. It was formed from the build up of layers of enamel paint slag on tracks and skids on which cars were hand spray-painted (a now automated process), which have been baked numerous times. In recent times the material has been recycled as eco-friendly.

Fordite (Michigan Assembly)
The Fordite comes from the Ford Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan. Known as the Michigan Assembly Plant. The plant opened in 1957, as the Michigan Station Wagon Plant producing Mercury station wagons. Other vehicle produced included SUVs, the Ford Focus as well as different Hybred cars and now is now producing the Ranger and soon the Bronco. This specific fordite was from the Ford Focus/CMAX rough.
