A giclee is a fine art print created by using a specialized high resolution inkjet printer. Giclee prints have an extremely high level of quality, longevity and value compared to a standard inkjet print. Combined with a high resolution scan of my image, this print looks nearly identical to my original print collage.

My inspiration for this collage was the realization that I had 10 years worth of scrap prints in my studio. I didn't want to trash them so I decided to put them to good use. The prints in the scrap pile include my personal linocuts, woodcuts, silk screens, etchings, and Resin Grave engravings. I used a photo I took of Ruby, the red and green Macaw, who lives at Reptile Gardens in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I drew her image on a piece of light blue Stonehenge paper, cut shapes out of my old prints and adhered them to the paper with matte medium. The result is a patchwork of color...almost like an applique quilt. I then had the collage scanned on a high resolution scanner so that I could have Giclee prints made of the original collage image. Zoom in to see the detail and see if you can find remnants of my "Bale of Turtles" print and my "Bird Watching" print!
