TUTORIAL Herringbone Leaf Earrings TUTORIAL

Whoa! You can't buy your own item.

This listing is for a digital .pdf tutorial that will teach you how to make herringbone leaf earrings like those shown above. The tutorial will be available for instant download from Etsy as soon as your payment has cleared.

The Herringbone Leaf Earrings are made using a variation on the herringbone wrap that allows the wrap to take on a lot of height on top without creating a large shape down below. The result is a pleasing leaf shape, high and pointed on top, wide and curved on the bottom. From this curved bottom, a paddle shaped “stem” emerges, completing the leaf-like appearance.

These are what I like to call “one piece earrings,” meaning that the ear wire is not a separate piece attached to the decorative portion of the earring, but rather is built in to the earring itself. I believe this gives an earring a sleek appearance.

This tutorial contains step-by-step color photographs as well as clear written instructions to teach you in detail how to make herringbone leaf earrings like those shown above.

You will need the following tools and materials to complete this project.

• Flush cutters
• Chasing hammer or ball pein hammer
• Bench block
• Flat nosed pliers
• Wire file
• Cup Burr / Wire Rounder (optional but recommended)
• An 8mm mandrel, such as a Crayola crayon
• A ruler
• A Sharpie marker. Fine point is best.

• 9 inches (22 cm) 20 gauge wire
• 80 inches (2 meters) 26 gauge wire
• Two thick 10mm disc beads with holes large enough to accommodate a 20 gauge wire and a 26 gauge wire simultaneously. The disc beads that I used for the examples are Venetian glass beads 10mm wide by about 5 mm thick. Thinner disc beads would be more difficult to work with, but if you have no thick disc beads on hand, 10mm round beads would provide an interesting appearance as well.
