Description

Gitchi Gumee Cream features buds from the water-loving cottonwood trees that grow along the shores of Lake Erie and is enriched with aloe vera, chamomile and calendula hydrosols, and essential oils of lavender and elemi. Gitchi Gumee Cream will soften the driest skin. It is perfect for hardworking hands, cracked feet and any chapped or dry areas. It can be used as a night cream for the face, if you have very dry skin. The buds have also been used traditionally for arthritis and sore muscles.

Ingredients: Balm of Gilead infused grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, aloe vera gel, organic calendula hydrosol, organic chamomile hydrosol, pure beeswax, organic jojoba oil, organic essential oils of lavender and elemi, vitamin E.

The natural, clean scent is a blend of the cottonwood and elemi resins and the more delicate flowers. Many men like the scent as it is not overwhelming, but they will also report that the women in their lives steal the cream because it works so well.

We harvest the resinous, aromatic buds of eastern cottonwood trees, Populus deltoides and Populus balsamifera, in late winter. The trees lose many branches in the winter winds from which buds can be collected, and we consider them a gift, as the trees are up to 80 foot tall with few low-hanging branches. The sticky buds contain a balsamic resin historically used to make salve or cream by infusing them in oil. Bees use the resin to make propolis, a sealant used in their hives. Native Americans called the cottonwood the Tree of Life and used it for healing and early Americans called the tree Balm of Gilead.
