Description

This unique, one-of-a-kind lampworked glass focal pendant was made by fuming silver onto borosilicate glass. When a piece of silver is heated in a flame, it gives off fumes. When a hot glass rod or tube is also put in the flame, the fumes from the silver will stick to the glass, giving it a transparent coating of silver. More clear glass can be applied over the silver coating to make patterns or designs. All of the color inside the pendant is from the silver, it has various shades of blue, yellow, and white. The colors create a spiral design, which reminds me of a galaxy. The pendant has a black glass backing to bring out the colors inside.

This pendant is about 3/4 inch in diameter. It comes on a black satin cord adjustable necklace, ready to wear or give as a gift. The necklace comes in a black gift box.

The pendant is made from borosilicate glass, or "hard" glass, which is strong and durable. The pendant was created by melting glass rods using a Nortel Midrange torch, and has been annealed in a digitally controlled kiln for long lasting durability.
