I can't tell you how much I wanted a pair of these shoes when I was a teenager in the 1960s. They were the epitome of cool, beatnik girl style back then….and now his shoes are in the fashion collections of the Metropolitan Museum and FIT. These are a rare find indeed!

Fred Braun's shop was on 8th Street in Greenwich Village and was the go-to source for handmade sandals, handbags, and shoes in bohemian style.

This pair was made by Fred Braun for Abercrombie and Fitch some time in the 1970s. They appear to be in virtually unworn condition. They're skillfully made--and a beautiful matte brown leather with very fine contrasting stitching, lined in leather, and with leather laces.

These are pretty small--see below.

Size: 5M, Sole is 9 3/4" long, 3 3/4" at widest point

Marks: Made For Abercrombie & Fitch, New York, San Francisco, Chicago. Made by Fred Braun

Condition: Excellent virtually unworn condition--some soil to the soles.
