Did you see the Today Show report in which 9 out of 10 toddler lunches reached unsafe temperatures before consumption? ( http://bit.ly/nRN5kH ) Scary, eh? Forty-five per cent of the lunches even contained at least one ice pack! I don’t know about you, but growing up with a warm (and squished) mayo, cheese and (veggie) meat sandwich with warm, wilted iceberg lettuce was not a favorite of mine. Check out my newest idea!

This is an 8” x 8” insulated sandwich bag that is double lined with food-safe rip stop nylon. The high quality exterior fabric is a delicious apricot cotton print. The 8” brightly colored zipper is easy to open and close for little and big fingers alike. The best part of the bag is the outer pocket which can hold an ice pack. This listing does NOT contain an ice pack. The velcro at the top of the pocket keeps it closed and the ice pack in place. The insulation is on the outside of the pocket with only the double layer of nylon being between the food and ice pack pouch. The difference between just putting an ice pack in with the lunch and using this is that my sandwich bag keeps the ice pack against the food inside while being jostled in a lunch bag. No fear of the ice pack ending up across the bag from the item it is supposed to keep cold! I’ve had a sandwich stay REALLY cold for five hours in my purse. (I haven't done any specific testing as to how cold the food stayed.)

Instead of slipping the ice pack into the outer pocket, other items could be stored there including reusable napkins (have you seen mine?!), silverware, fruit, etc. The ice pack storage pocket is slightly shorter than the zippered bag (approx 7.5" x 8").

The double nylon lining helps food stay fresher longer (and keeps the liquid from wetter foods where they belong!) The zippers are also food safe. I will not sell anything that I will not use for my own family. This bag is not completely air and water tight so it is not designed for long term food storage.

Note: zipper color and fabric placement vary.

This bag is machine washable and dryable on cold. Please remember to remove the cool pack first!
