Description

This black turban was designed especially for women with cancer. The yarn is a superwash merino wool, which is oh-so-soft! (I made myself a sweater with this yarn.) The turban style is a throwback to the 1950s and will look wonderful with many items in your wardrobe. Try adding one of your favorite pins to the front for some bling. You are sure to receive many compleients every time you wear it!

This hat is a size medium. Other sizes are available upon request, for the same price.

MEASURING YOUR HEAD
Using a tape measure, measure around the head just above the eyebrows.

SIZING
Small - 20 inch circumference, fits ages about 5 to 12 or 13
Medium - 21 1/2 inch circumference, fits teens to adults
Large - 22 1/2 inch circumference, for larger heads
Please note that crochet hats do stretch.

WASHING
I would recommend hand washing in cool water.
Gently squeeze out excess water; wrap in a towel and blot; then lay flat to air dry.
You can machine wash on a gentle cycle, then lay flat to air dry.

The Story Behind My Chemo Hats:

As Thanksgiving 2012 approached, my dear friend Margaret was diagnosed with Stage 3B, triple negative breast cancer. Margaret was also a widow who had lost her husband to lung cancer. She had no children, and no family in the area, so we fought her cancer together. As chemo began and we realized she would lose her hair, we searched for a cute solution. But Margaret has a very small head and one-size-fits-all hats cover her eyes! Since I crochet, I offered to start making her some custom hats.

We quickly discovered any type of fuzzy yarn would not work well on a bald head. Fuzzy yarn is scratchy, too warm, and looks like outdoor apparel. So we decided to try cotton yarn, and this provided the perfect solution. It’s the ideal weight for comfortable, indoor, all day wear, and it makes up into a hat that looks like it's meant to be worn indoors. We chose 2 styles, a turban and a cloche, and thus it began. Every chemo session Margaret would have a new hat, and this always brought her many compliments. This gave Margaret an unbelievable lift in her spirits!

That’s when I decided that all women and girls going through chemo, who would lose their hair, deserved a cute hat or two to wear. And so it began......

The hat is adorable...beautifully made! The stated size, "small," is just that, and a little small for my little, elderly mom, but she's still rockin' it!

This bracelet is even prettier than the picture on the Etsy site. And it is beautifully, professionally made. Not only was it shipped promptly, but Andrea does a special tissue wrap, so that if you are gift giving, it's ready to go.

I bought this hat for a friend going through chemo. Not only is it adorable, but it is warm and comfy. She said it feels good on her head, does not itch or irritate her scalp. This was a fun gift to cheer my friend.
