⋙ All GOING NOMAD shawls are felted by hand, therefore there will be some difference in details between yours and the shawl on photos. Thats the beauty of handmade crafts! No two shawls can be made exactly the same. No two people will have exactly the same product. You will be a holder of something unique!
Wonderfully soft and warm, handmade from finest merino wool in shades of coal black and cream white, with stringy, dreadlock-like endings, Svarthrafn shawl is one of a kind creation.
The wool fibers are woven and wet felted together using ' thick cobweb' technique. The fabric created this way has a strong yet fine structure, resembling a net. It gives the shawl its characteristic rugged and raw character and allows it to be styled in many different ways.
Soft to the touch and very light this shawl will keep you warm and cozy during all seasons.

About the design:
The process of creation is inspired by old wool felting techniques, still used by nomads living in the steps of Mongolia. It is a very strenuous and time consuming process. The only materials involved are raw fibers from different breeds of the merino sheep, warm water, and soap made from olive oil. Merinos are regarded as having the finest and softest wool of any sheep, making it a perfect material for scarves and wraps.
After a series of extended agitation techniques have been applied to the fibers following the weave, the pieces are ready for wear.
On average, it takes up to three days to create just the right texture and aesthetic.
This is original GOING NOMAD shawl pattern.
Care instructions:
Hand wash in a lukewarm water with small amount of gentle soap and minimal agitation. Do not let it soak for long periods of time, rinse well, carefully squeeze extra water off. Lay flat to dry. Reshape if necessary.
