I painted an old hard cover book and used a colorful French design on this shabby chic or French country riser. The spine of the book has a French name. The back side of the book is washed in a light goldenrod color and has round wooden legs. The design is decoupaged onto the book amend all of it has been sealed, including the legs.
How colorful and gorgeous this would be in your country chic or cottage farmhouse room.

Book is ~6” x 9-1/4” x 1”. Note that these are old books and may have marks or show their aging in areas. Books are for display and not meant to be opened or read.
